Have you been experiencing erectile dysfunction? Is it negatively affecting your sex life and your relationship? Has it led to embarrassment, low self-esteem, stress, and even depression?
Though it’s most common in men aged 40 and up, it can happen to anyone and when it does, we’ll be happy to help you regain your confidence and control of your sex life again through our two main medications.
At Male Excel, we offer either Viagra or Cialis that contain sildenafil and tadalafil, the two main ingredients found in male enhancement pills. But what you may not know is, those ingredients have to be approved by the FDA before they are prescribed to patients. If they are found in over-the-counter E.D. medications, they are considered illegal and should not be purchased or taken, but we’ll get to why later on.
One of the most important things when it comes to taking medication is understanding what the ingredients are and what you’re putting in your body.
What is Erectile Dysfunction?
Erectile dysfunction, also referred to as E.D., is a very common problem amongst men over 40 in the United States. It’s an actual medical condition that affects being able to achieve and maintain an erection.
It could be caused by a number of factors such as stress, depression if you suffer from an illness, prescription drugs, obesity, diabetes, and much more. These conditions can reduce the amount of blood flowing to the penis which is easily treatable.
What is Sildenafil?
Sildenafil is the most commonly used ingredient in Viagra. It helps your muscles relax so your blood vessels can widen and allow healthy blood flow to your penis to maintain an erection until completion. Its effects can typically last for around two to three hours, so if you’re hoping to have “fun” multiple times in one night, you just might be in luck!
The Do’s & Don'ts Associated With Sildenafil
Do: Engage in foreplay first! Sorry guys, but sildenafil doesn’t immediately give you an erection. It works by increasing the blood flow to your penis and helps you get and maintain an erection along with sexual stimulation.
Don’t: Take a pill right before having sex. You’ll be disappointed. Remember the whole “doesn’t work immediately” thing?
Do: Take orally at least 30 minutes prior to having sex, although one hour before is the most effective. It can even be taken up to four hours beforehand, but no longer than that.
Don’t: Drink a lot of alcohol or eat a meal high in fat prior to taking a pill. This will highly reduce the likelihood of getting an erection.
Do: You should always disclose what other medications you’re taking as mixing them with sildenafil can be dangerous seeing as it helps blood flow by relaxing and widening your blood vessels.
Don’t: Mixing sildenafil with grapefruit juice can be dangerous too. Grapefruit juice can actually increase the amount of drugs within your bloodstream.
Do: Enjoy your night, responsibly of course.
Don’t: Take more than one a day.
Do: Seek help if your erection lasts more than four hours.
Side Effects Experienced With Sildenafil
Approximately one in ten men will experience these common side effects associated with Viagra:
- Blurred vision
- Stuffy or runny nose
- Muscle aches or pain
Do Not Buy Sketchy Over-The-Counter Pills With Sildenafil!
There is a large amount of non-FDA-approved over-the-counter pills out there and not only do they not help erectile dysfunction, but they are also extremely unsafe for your body. Even when products are marketed as “all-natural” does not mean they are good for you, particularly Yohimbe bark extract.
Yohimbe is a banned ingredient in Canada, Australia, and the United Kingdom because of its harsh effects on the human body. Yes, it is all-natural as it’s taken from the African tree, Yohimbe, and used to commonly be used for treating people with the flu, although there has been no evidence collected that it actually works.
If ingested, Yohimbe has very dangerous side effects including seizures, weight loss, high blood pressure, stomach pain, migraines, rapid heartbeat, and trouble breathing. It can even worsen symptoms in people diagnosed with schizophrenia, post-traumatic stress disorder, liver disease or depression.
A lot of male enhancement pills will also contain sildenafil but in dangerous doses. This is especially dangerous if you’re unaware of which medications you’re currently taking that cannot be mixed with sildenafil, especially if they contain nitrates. If mixed, your blood pressure can reach dangerously low levels.
At Male Excel, our trained professionals prescribe safe amounts of sildenafil after carefully examining your current, and previous, medical history.
What Is Tadalafil?
Tadalafil is the most common ingredient in Cialis. It’s also known for allowing a healthy supply of blood flow to the penis so you can achieve, and maintain, an erection until completion.
It’s also commonly used to treat people with an enlarged prostate to relieve symptoms of difficulty urinating, or reducing the feeling of needing to urinate frequently, by relaxing the muscles in your prostate. Cialis pills can come in lower doses and be taken on a daily basis, but their effects last longer than Viagra.
The Do’s & Don’ts Associated With Tadalafil
Do: Take within 30 minutes of sexual activity, or up to four hours.
Don’t: Take a pill immediately before having sex. You’re not going to immediately get an erection without the usual sexual stimulation (or foreplay).
Do: Disclose your honest medical history to us so we can safely prescribe tadalafil to you. It should never be mixed with ingredients in other prescribed medications such as nitrates as it can cause severe allergic reactions, rapid heartbeat, lower your blood pressure, and worsen symptoms associated with kidney disease, eye problems, bleeding disorders, and stomach ulcers.
Don’t: Drink alcohol excessively while taking Cialis. Not only can this cause dizziness or bad headaches, but it can also increase your heart rate, lower your blood pressure, and cause your blood vessels to widen even more.
Do: Have a couple of drinks (two) and enjoy your night. Two won’t work against tadalafil.
Don’t: Mix tadalafil with grapefruit juice! It can increase the level of drug in your bloodstream and increase the risk of experiencing negative side effects.
Do: Enjoy the 36-hour effect of tadalafil with your partner!
Don’t: Expect to see results as fast after consuming a meal with high-fat content. It will take longer for the drug to settle in before you’ll notice a difference.
Side Effects Experienced With Tadalafil
Everyone’s body will handle medication differently and side effects associated with tadalafil aren’t as common, but you may experience the following:
- Muscle or joint pain
- Stuffy or runny nose
- Upset stomach
- Back pain
In very rare cases, one might experience loss of hearing or vision, or have a serious allergic reaction. Stop taking tadalafil right away and seek medical help.
Tadalafil Is Also FDA-Approved
Just like sildenafil, tadalafil is an FDA-approved ingredient and should not be listed in non-approved male enhancement medications otherwise. Not only could they have other dangerous ingredients listed, but an unprescribed amount of tadalafil is dangerous, especially when mixed with other medications. Too much tadalafil in sketchy over-the-counter medications can cause:
- Blurred vision
- Chest pain
- Hearing loss
- A longer erection (if it lasts more than four hours, please seek help)
- Fatigue or weakness
The Main Differences
Though sildenafil and tadalafil can both help you achieve and maintain an erection and have similar side effects, one does last longer than the other and can be used for treating another disorder.
Tadalafil’s effects can last up to 36 hours, whereas sildenafil can last up to five or six hours. Tadalafil can also be used to treat men with an enlarged prostate, also known as benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). BPH becomes more common as men age and causes uncomfortable urinary symptoms or kidney problems.
By taking tadalafil, it can help relax your prostate and bladder muscles. But, people like that sildenafil has been around longer - it was approved in 1998 and because the first oral pill to be approved by the FDA, whereas tadalafil has been FDA-approved since 2003.
How Many Men In America Are Struggling With E.D.?
Know you’re not alone in this. Erectile dysfunction is affecting over 18 million other men in the United States and many are too embarrassed to receive help so opt for over-the-counter medication that shouldn’t even be sold in the first place.
Whether age plays a huge role in it, or stress or other medical conditions, it’s important to understand which products are best and what is going into your body.
Which Is Better For Me? Sildenafil Or Tadalafil?
It’s all up to you but of course, we’d be happy to answer any questions regarding our products. Viagra and Cialis have the same effect - they both help blood flow to your penis so you’re able to achieve and maintain an erection.
However, Cialis will last longer than Viagra. It’s also important to remember ingredients in both pills shouldn’t be mixed with other medication and after going over your medical history, we’d be happy to clarify why Viagra or Cialis may not be the best option for you.
Please note: Tadalafil and sildenafil are not contraceptives nor do they protect you against sexually transmitted diseases.
